Infact/Early Childhood Mental Health Intern

About the Opportunity

As an infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Intern, you will play a vital role in expanding the capacity for evidence-based trauma-focused mental health services for children and families in Brightmoor Community. Through hands-on experience and training, you will contribute to enhancing academic readinesss and mental and behavioral wellbeing amoung trauma-exposed young children and their families.

 

Internship Goals and Objectives:

  • Expand Capacity for Trauma-Focused Mental Health Services
  • Contribute to the co-creation of the infant/early childhood mental health curriculum and training development
  • Participate int he train-the trainer model of play therapy and to facilitate play therapy training.
  • Provide a needs-based scholarship fund to support interns' professional development activites.
  • Enhance Academic Readiness and Menta;/Behavioral Well-being for Young Children and their Families:
  • Opportunities to collaborate with early childcare providers to create childcare policies emphasizing positive social-emotional development.
  • Receive training in working with children and families using play-based interventions, such as non-directive Play Therapy.
  • Increase Awareness of Traumatic Stress Impacts:
  • Participate in community-outreach programming hightlighting the availability of social emotional consultations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Passion for working with children and families in trauma-exposed communities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidiscipilary team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to ne challenges and experiences.
  • Willingness to be flexible with schedules.
