Development and Public Affairs
Development and Public Affairs seeks to increase private philanthropy for MiSide’s programs and to enhance the organization’s visibility in the city, region and state through:
- Major Gift fundraising
- Communications and marketing, including press relations, agency website development and management, and social media
- Volunteer coordination
- Grant writing
- Annual campaigns and special specials to support programs and initiatives
- Solutions at Sunrise, the annual major fundraiser that attracts 1,000 people
- Special event
Finance and Accounting
Finance and Accounting manages day-to-day financial activities of MiSide and its nonprofit and for-profit subsidiaries, including Limited Partnerships, by performing the following:
- Preparation of monthly financial statements including income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements
- Accounting (AR, AP, GL, Payroll)
- Developing annual and operating capital budgets
- Developing grant budgets and monthly financial billings
- Financial analysis and forecasts
- Investments
- Banking relationships (i.e., securing loans, mortgages, lines of credit)
- Third party reimbursement billing
- Tax credit cost certifications
- Maintaining reporting and compliance with equity syndicators
- Developing financial ProFormas
- Purchasing (supplies, equipment and furniture)
Human Resources Management (HRM)
Human Resources Management (HRM) provides business support for the decision, activities, and processes required to meet the basic needs and support the work performance of employees. HRM functions include a variety of activities, and key among them are:
- Ensuring personnel and management practices conform to various legal and accreditation regulations.
- Facilitating the recruitment and hiring process
- Providing and coordinating new hire orientation
- Monitoring and tracking staff development and training activities
- Administering fringe benefits program
- Overseeing employee performance evaluation system
- Maintaining personnel records and credentialing files
- Management of compensation structure
- Facilitating leaves of absences
- Processing terminations
- Advise management staff in dealing with performance issue
- Investigation of employee complaints
- Assisting management in maintaining a culturally competent environment
- Responsible for the Health & Safety Committee and Risk Management Committee activities
- Labor relations and Union/Management communications
- Prepares and updates personnel policies, employee manuals and job descriptions
- Fleet vehicle management
Technology Management
Technology Management provides the agency with practical technology tools in order to better serve the needs of our staff, clients, and external stakeholders. It is the responsibility of the Information Technology Department to maintain and support the information technology infrastructure consisting of:
- Develops and implements Information Technology Plan
- Manages Wide Area Network – connecting separate geographical facilities
- Manages Local Area Network – connections within one geographical facility
- Maintains hardware – servers, computers, printers, etc.
- Maintains software – desktop applications, enterprise applications (i.e., The Link, Great Plains, and operating systems)
- Administers communications – telephone and e-mail systems
- Manages security – key scan system, firewall, anti-virus, etc.
- Implements policies and procedures including disaster recovery
- Maintains Help Desk System
