Healing Together: Antonio’s Transformation with MiHealth

In June 2023, 4-year-old Antonio began counseling services through MiHealth. His mother, Valeria, knew that she needed help understanding her son and his emotions so that she could connect with him better.    

Before counseling, Antonio was very easily upset and explosive. This tension in the household led to Valeria exploding with frustration too. It was becoming a vicious cycle that she knew they needed help to escape.    

“I was thinking that I didn’t have a good connection with my child.”    

That is when they found Children, Youth and Families services through MiHealth.     

Through the sessions, Antonio has become a much more calm, happy child. Even his 1-year-old sister has begun imitating his behaviors and is learning alongside him.     

Even though the sessions are for Antonio, everyone is growing.     

“I’m learning how to communicate with him.”    

Mom is learning how to be more patient with him, set limits, and offer more options. Antonio is a completely different kid than he was when he started counseling.    

“This program has been changing us a lot.”    

It is because of our generous donors that Antonio was able to get the help he needed to process his emotions and control his anger. His family is closer than ever.
